hi, my skybox is dead on me i've read somewhere that you can use a null modem to make it work again however i don't have such modem is there any other way to revive it?

I bricked mine, it froze and i switched it off at the back and it went stone dead on me got it going with (see link) do you have friend or family with a PC with com port, I think its the best way what I have read, I didn't load the latest firmware I loaded one from about June time then i put latest on, i have read you can get usb to null modem adptor but I did read a few people saying it didn't work via usb, for some of them, my pc with com port its upstairs so i disconnected it from the dish and HDMI cable, took it upstairs and got it going with the linked page software on this forum, so you could take it to friends as well if you don't have pc with com port the cables are very cheap to buy, its worth buying one if you have a few receivers (i have) worth their weight in gold if you brick your box. good luck

By dead i mean it wont turn on... my box froze while i was trying to setup the WiFi connection i switched it off through the power button in the back after that it just wont turn on

Thats strange, have you checked the obvious fuse if its a uk plug. Maybe open up cover and check connections with plug off from socket of course.
If all ok then you may have to do whats been suggested by jaws2.

thats what happened to mine it froze/locked up, I got it back from the dead with the other post I did, mine was dead as a stone and would not switch on as well when you switch it on (see the link I put) it brought mine back to life, the details are on the link, use the switch on the back of the receiver to power it on after you have connected cable and started the program download the repair tool erom_upgrade_8Mflash.rar on the link below, all the details are there took about 10 minutes to fix mine maybe a bit less

thank you all for your help i will try today to fix it using the suggested tool since i had to search for an old pc with an RS232 connector which i finally found today with one my relatives

when you unzip the repair tool just use EromUpgrade Application, and load the F3 firmware that you will download I used a older firmware, but the latest may work, I had it on my PC the old firmware already thats why i used it. hope you get it workingLast edited by jaws2; 15 November, 2012, 14:34.Comment
