And i am very happy but have a couple of questions...

Is there a better remote ? I have the box in a cabinet with like a lattice effect on it and have to do some remote-fu at times to get it too work seams the ir not very clever on it

Also anyway to steam files over the network instead of using the usb ? if not no worry as can just watch straight from pc instead was just curious.

Anyhow thanks to this forum got it up and running with nice sky list and latest firmware, for a sub 50 quid box this thing rocks

Yes you can send files over the internet, if you click on downloads at the top of the page and go to openbox, there is something called toolbox (i think) and there lan tool is in that.

regarding the remote, maybe see if you can plug in one of the little infared things that is on a wire and jack plug, i used one on a wireless video sender, but dont have the openbox now to check the rear connections

will try that later, think i still got a jack plug ir thing from old s1 tv card, though can not remember seeing a socket on the back, so hmm to open up and break out soldering iron or keep warranty intact and not have the mrs growl at me if it breaks

after looking at goggle image search seams no jack on the back though a quick fleabay search turned up a

ok just found a fix on fleabay, just ordered Infra-red Remote Control Receiver+ Emitter +USB Adaptor for IR Extender Repeater.

Cost ?3.57 with free post from china might take a couple of weeks too come but means I can shut the doors and mount the receiver on bottom of tv

Update usb IR extender came yesterday fitted it last night
It works a treat, for those of you who curse at the f3 remote I will tell you now its not the remote its the receiver, with this cable I can use the remote bounce the signal off walls etc its never been as responsive

If you hate how crappy it works as standard I cant recommend getting one of these cables enough

good find m8, was it straight plug and play or did you have to faff around with owt?

its comes as a usb to power it and 2 bits on the cable the bigger one is the receiver the smaller one is the transmitter.
They both come with a sticky pad on them I personally stuck the bigger one on my tv, and the transmitter over the ir sensor on the sky box (just above the green power led on the f3) and stuck the usb in the usb on the skybox

Like I say it works a treat for me
