Might be that your movies are not 25fps, they might be 23.976fps, 24p, 29.97fps etc etc... Skybox/Openbox does not switch the output format to match the media, so when playing back these there will be glitches when it misses frames...

If some of your movies are 29.97fps then you might get smooth playback with the box set to output at 60hz... At 50hz you'll only get smooth playback from PAL 25fps files...

thanks nibblitz i understand now' iv'e noticed that my pal 25fps rips play fine thats because like you said ntsc 60hz pal 50hz and so on ' if i put the box into 1080i 60hz i get like a jumpy interlaced picture on normal tv that looks awful.

You might want to think about getting a dedicated Media Player if you watch a lot of files on your TV... I use a Western Digital Live, they're not that expensive, it switches its output mode automatically to match the media file type its playing, so whatever it is Im watching its smooth as it should be with no glitching from missed frames... Obviously you need a TV that supports all the formats, PAL, NTSC, 24p...
