    OPENBOX X3 Password lockout

    Hi Guys,

Need some advice - a friend of mine has a Openbox and the dude wot fitted it has set a password on all the Menu items.

My friend wants to change some network settings and we have asked the seller what the password is but he has ignored our requests. Wh have tried all the usual suspects 0000, 7786, 6666, 3133, 1111 etc to no avail.

I have looked at this forum and it seems the way to go is a firmware upgrade using a Null Modem cable. My questions are:

    1) Do you lose all your sea-lion config settings when upgrading? Or do you get the opportunity to save these settings and restore after upgrade?

    2) Can you point my in the direction of a tutorial to this upgrade.

    3) Do you just download the latest firmware from manufacturers website and use that?

    Thanks in advance

If you cannot get into the menu you can use the X3 to Lan tool to dump your sea-lion. Once you have done this and checked you have the file saved you can update the software using the same tool and replace your sea-lion. You should then have the default password 0000 or 6666.

You will need to find your box ip from your router then you can do it over home network.

Gave this a go but it asks for the parent lock password to login. Or am I doing some thing wrong? This is pretty useful once you have the password

          Thanks anyway dude!

When I have used the tool the password was preset. Makes me wonder if its got the factory preset built in but once changed on the box needs to be changed.

Get back to your suppliers and tell them you need to change the Video output as the pic is in the wrong format.

why not just start from 0000 and try all the numbers leading to the last possible number 9999. I would thing the number would be gained in minutes and not days.the only thing that would stop you is a lockout after several attempts.is that the case? I have pinched many a bikes with this method
