Another Challenge - Getting HDMI Working

    2 Openbox S10's

Both work via the component cables but HDMI fails.

When HDMI cable is plugged in it auto switches on my tv to the correct HDMI input channel but I get no signal sent from the box. Just a blue screen. There must be something travelling through the cable as it switches to HDMI as soon as there is a connection to the box

Both have worked in the past.

I have changed cables, reloaded different firmwares and tried them on different TV's with a working HD Openbox in place. No joy with any of this. I have tried every different configuration in the tv output settings.

What's the chances of this being software/ settings related or is it more likely I have 2 boxes with gubbed HDMI ports?

    Any ideas folks?

Total guess here, but could be it setup for component output and needs to swapped back in a setting to hdmi ?

        You could ask the Queen.

Some TV's dont support all Formats, especially HD Ready as opposed to Full HD.

Try the V Format button under the down arrow on the remote to change the Video resolution. First press it once and it will show the format set on the box Lcd. Wait till it reverts back to the channel number then press it twice, the format will change. If it doesn't work press twice again. I think there are six different formats from 480, 720 and 1080 in both I & P format.

A mate of mine had the same problem with a telly that had limited formats.

While you have the componants in make sure the TV System are as follows:

        Aspect Mode Auto
        Video Out: YUV
        Digital Audio Out LPCM Out

The resolution can also be changed from here but check easier using V Format button.

Tried all formats on the tv and the boxes with no joy.

Settings are exactly as the above.

I have also tried on another tv with an existing Opembox running in HD. Again no joy.

Its either software or a faulty HDMI port in both.

Its not a major problem, the scart still allows me to clearly see the empty seats at football matches.

It was very very clear. Clear that there was more than three times as many at a Sunday game live on TV as there was at a Saturday 3pm with no TV coverage.

had something similar with f3 ,set it up in bedroom worked fine, tried in main room fine, took back to bedroom and hd cable wont work .will work with comp cables.
my s10 works in bedroom on hd .s9 works in bedroom on hd.
tried various hd leads with f3 in bedroom no joy. in the end left f3 in front room and s10 in bedroom

I am gonna put it down to both boxes having a dodgy HDMI connector.

The only thing stops me being fully convinced is the TV recognises when the HDMI is connected so there must be a signal travelling between it and the box.

Is the hdmi cable going straight from the box to TV?

I had cable going from box into DVD 2.1 and then from DVD into TV and the picture was hit an miss so I just bypassed the DVD receiver and now I can watch pretty much any format?
