    My Skybox F3 Install

    Morning chaps,

So, I purchased my F3 from ebay and I've only just been able to get playing with it last night.

Out of the box, it had november firmware on it and a UK Channel list pre-programmed (which wasn't great).

Deleted the list and popped AJ's channel list onto the USB drive which was dead simple to do.
THE ONLY THING that caught me out here was that I physically had to go through the favourites and rename every one to match the channel list order .. Is this normal?

After that I had a look on google and did a few things I'm assuming don't get mentioned on DK, and I was blown away by how simple it was to get up and running.

My next question is, what's the best way to get up and running on multiple sats so I can pick up nova/canal/sky de etc.

Is is by buying a multi lnb and pointing that at the other sats and using a switch?

If so, can someone explain to a newbie to this the easiest methods of doing so or point me in the right direction.

    Thanks in advance,
    SN

Motorised dish would give you the ability to scan all satellites available to you.

Some channel lists retain their fav names.

Yes it is normal, the favs will stay the way they are now if you where to place a different list on and would need renaming again, if you used aj's as and when it is updated then the favs would already be in the same order..

Your looking at picking up 13e and 19.2e, the signal for these is quite strong so you wouldn't need a super dooper sized dish, you could go down the multi lnb route, but if you wish to start looking at more sats i would recommend you got a 1.1m dish and a motor... then you get a good choice of sats, shop around for a motor and dish on ebay.

Now off top of mi head, (and i would go into more details if i had a box in front of me )
setting the box up to work.... you would go into satellite setup, select the satellites you would want to use, like 19.2e and 13e If you only have 28.2e in there then you can select to add more sats.. (green or blue button)
then change the motor settings to either usals or disq1,2, then do a single blind scan of the sat you want..

Setting the dish up is a whole different ball game, there is an excellent guide which i followed here

It was easy to do mate.
If it isn't broke, don't try fixin it..!!!

Yup totally normal to rename the favorites, tbh I thought I was doing something wrong since it was not coming up with the names correctly.

I would say to change the names is a better idea, I found within my firmware (you~~~~/youtube one) that there is a weird favorites/channel list bug, so when I installed aJs it was not showing ajs list but the firmware build in favorite list, so I
uploaded Ajs list to my box, then go back to menu and then select tools then factory setting and then select all (red button) then ok (blue button) and restarted the box, aJs channel list then shows correctly with the bonus of them being all renamed correctly automatically

In regards to using multi or motorised, I would say since I have a 1 meter moterised dish setup its nice to be flexible, however since I only watch 13e/28e I may drop to a multi lnb, its a right bother when you wanna watch channels on another sat and you gotta wait ! so think carefully and check what exact sats you maybe watching, id rather buy 2-3 mini sat dishes and put them all up or one large dish and see if I can use that multi LnB arm bracket, which is what I may try next.

Thanks guys I was on the same boat, I thought I was a noob! Nice glitch with your firmware RP3X MIGHT have to try it the next time I do a big channel list update...

Cheers for that darcu5, with regards to 13e and 19.2e, I think I have a ~90cm dish as is 'cos it wasn't a standard sky install with a silly small dish when I first got the sat in... so would a scoot to the local electronics store for a multi lnb holder be an idea and have them going through one of those switches like below :

I cant see the pick mate but a 90cm dish is more than big enough, even the small dishes pick up 13e & 19.2e so you should get excellent signal strength. so long as the switch will take the 3lnb's you should be good to go.

            cheers
