Here's one to mull over with some wine / beer over christmas. Have a rather vintage openmedia 500c/s, which I got way back when Nagra 3 threatened to disturbed my cable viewing, originally used the c side of it, then when the dreaded N3 arrived switched to S side using various images over the years. Last week it decided not to love me anymore and froze. Nothing would resuscitate it except for reflashing it. Had to do this using null modem and dreamup as no other way to communicate with it as it was dead. Now it talks to me, and I have tried several images - DK, Nabilo, Commando, darkstar etc, all suitable for this device and vintage, and the box behaves like it doesn't have a statellite side to it at all.
As you will know theres a switch on the back to choose, and If I reboot having switched it, I get the old cable image, all good there, but on the S side it sees no transponders, doesn't even allow the option at setup to set diseq choose satellite, nothing, just goes through picture setup (PAL etc), timezone, and language, it behaves exactly like a cable only box.
Banging my head off this for 3 days now, trawled umpteen forums, tried lots. Is the tuner dead ? would the box still see it if it was broken ?
