Skybox F3 Help

Right guys got myself a sky f3 box - great little box to be honest but have the following problem i have wifi usb adaptor for connection to web issue with this is ive tried connecting a usb hub so i can connect a hard drive but the box will not have it it wont recognise anything thats plug into the usb hub, so i cant record unless i take out the wifi adaptor and record a channel like bbc1 which is pointless, ive even tried to connect a ethernet cable to the box to free up the usb port but then i get no channels what so ever do i have to active a setting?, ive gone through the menus and changes the network to ethernet rather than wirless device - can someone please help

The USB port can only have one connected device at a time.. You cant use Wifi & Hard Disk together via a hub, the box does not support that..

Can you plug in a double addaptor and use a wifi arial and a usb as i am getting another box for my bed room. My main box is in my living room and want another one.

You cannot connect more than one USB device at a time to an F3, not by any method., it just will not work, the box can only communicate with one USB device.

Skybox f3 non-hd tv

Hi Guys,

Sorry bit of a noob. I have installed 2 of these boxes, one at home and one for a friend both on HDTVS. However I have ordered another for a friend who has since told me he has an old non-hd tv. How would I go about connecting this box to a standard def tv? would a composite to scart work for me?if so are there any steps i have to follow?thanks

To tell you the truth i dont know, its a friend of a friend of the older generation, was talking to him on the phone and he told me he dosent have a hd tv but was on one of those large backed tvs, i assume it would have scart socket atleast if not the red yellow and white sockes. I tried to ask him but he knew even lest than me (hard to believe).
I was just curious if i would have to change the outputs within the box or anything like that?

Hi, you can only have 1 device plugged in to the USB port on the box. Even if you have a USB hub, the box won't work properly with this.

You are much better to use an ethernet cable from your router rather than WiFi. This will be much more reliable considering WiFi is flakey at best. Most importantly it will free up the USB hub for recording.

I can understand you won't want to tear your house apart to wire cat5 cable from your router so the best solution is to use home plugs such as these:

There are 2 plugs which can link your Skybox to your home router using the internal wiring inside your house. I have used these in the past and they work flawlessly. Faaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrr better than wireless.

Hi, if it's an old CRT TV then it might well have the composite (Yellow, Red & White) outlets but at the very least, it should have a scart connection.

If it doesn't have composite but does have scart, you will need an adapter such as this one which costs buttons really:

I ordered one of those RCA to scart cables last night so hopefully does the trick!I know how to do all the difficult stuff setting up these boxes but its always the basic things like this that get me .
