    MediaBox Editor Studio Channel Editor

    Hi,

Using the 'split_dbs' and 'merge_dbs' tools available with AliEditor from the download section I've been able to split off the sat.rom and sat_tp_prog.udf files and import this .udf (import type is 'AliGen NoCAS') file into MediaBox Editor Studio.

This worked fine as it's so much easier to edit, etc channel info using this software than the others available.

I did make some changes like removed all the channels from a few Favourites that I didn't need from the original .dbs file I used (thanks to AJ and all his hard work ) using MediaBox Studio.

I also export this (same type as import) and I can then load up the resulting .udf file with AliEditor and I can see all changes I made within MediaBox Studio.

However, the problem comes when I try and merge_dbs this back because I get a merge error (doesn't like my .udf file stating a data error!!).

I'm hoping someone who has more knowledge (and may have even tried it before) can hopefully shed some idea or help into why they wont merge again?

    Thanks in advance.

editor studio has a tendency to make a .udf smaller than normal, probably what is causing your error.
The easiest way is to load full .abs files with the editor and export as .abs.Or load your edited .udf with alieditor itself via rs232,assuming you have a pc with a real serial port.

      Hi,

I'm getting a possibly related problem. Also using AJ's list (Thanks for all the hard work AJ).

Similar to bbb_uk I've used spllt_dbs from ALiEditor (well it was actually called STBHDEditor but seems to look the same) to get the sat_db_prog.udf file.

I imported this file into MediaBox Editor Studio (as ALigen NOCas) as it seems to be a lot more useful and easier to use. Made some changes and exported back to .udf file. When I load this changed .udf file in ALiEditor the favourite lists seem to be the same except all the channel names are blank or replaced with ?? question mark symbols.

When I've tried to use an exported .abs file direct from MediaBox and using this to updated OpenBox S11 I seem to get corrupted favourites list where non of the channels work and the names are corrupted random characters. I'm guessing I might get similar if I try to transfer the file from the above process. Not had chance to try again yet.

But any ideas why the above might be happening ?

      Thanks for your help.

        Thanks for your reply.

I did notice the exported .udf is smaller but even just loading the newly split .udf file into AliEdior the file is smaller and therefore also wont merge again. Therefore, the smaller .udf files are not unique to MediaBox as EliEditor has the same problem.

The easiest way is to load full .abs files with the editor and export as .abs.
MediaBox can import the .abs fine but I get export error when trying to export back to .abs (exporting to .udf is fine).

Or load your edited .udf with alieditor itself via rs232,assuming you have a pc with a real serial port.
Unfortunately, it's a laptop so no serial port. I would obviously prefer to solve this problem without the hassle of uploading channels via serial but in case this cant be done do u know if any of the USB 2 serial port work without a problem?

I'd like to make clear to other forum users that I dont believe this is related to AJ's actual list just that coincidently we (HomerSimpson and myself), and prob lots of other people, use AJ's list as a source to mould into what we prefer as favourites ourselves. AJ obviously spends a lot of time and I, like many others, appreciate and thank him for this as ultimately it saves us a lot of time.

I too had this occasionally and didn't know why. Did u export as filetype, "List Channels Ali Generic No CAS List", after choosing "AliGen NoCAS" as the export type?

I also noticed that with MediaBox that saving the changes as the default filename .cha (I think) limits the favourites to first 8 (and actually removes all other favourites).

When I've tried to use an exported .abs file direct from MediaBox
Do you not get an export error when trying to export to .ABS?
