Opebox X5 Can't Save Scanned ChannelDB to USB

    Hi guys,

I scanned for Astra 28.2 channels and I'm trying to save the channel db to USB but every time I try it says... save fail.

I've tried 2 drives and both are working 100% and both are formatted to fat32 but it just keeps saying save fail.

Have updated the firmware using one of the above USB drives so I know the USB ports are working.

If you can upload the latest firmware via the usb drive then it's obviously not the usb drive.

Can you save (dump) anything else like the firmware, any c/n lines?

There are two things I can think of:-
    1. Faulty/corrupt channel list.
    2. Faulty box and/or firmware.

With regards to 1, maybe restore defaults, rescan channels and see if you can save then. Maybe even if you can load another channel list (eg AJs).

With regards to 2, if you haven't already got latest version then try latest firmware or maybe even an older firmware.

Unfortunately, having the latest firmware can mean introductions of new problems that may not have existed on earlier versions.

Eg - I have S10, and the latest official version of firmware has audio sync issues but not AnonymousX v2 firmware.

Either of these things will obviously result in you loosing your current channel list - sorry.

If you do return to defaults and rescan channels, try and save immediately after scanning (ie before you make any amendments to the channel/favourite list.

Is AJ's list not compatible with it as it states X3 and other previous openboxes/skyboxes?

It's an X5 which is newer than the X3. And no AJs file is a DBS file which it does not recognise?

I don't think anyone has loaded a channel list successfully

I assumed it took the same channel list as other skyboxes. I guess the F5 also doesn't accept .dbs files?

What is the file extension of channel lists that the X5 supports?

UPDATE: It's ok, just seen your thread.

Well I was able to get the newcamd working on the box and hiten in that post suggested that I try to PVR record onto the drive which I did and it worked 100%.

I factory reset the box and used the the s/w upgrade by internet and It still does the same when trying to save channel list onto flash.

So I don't think it's the USB ports that is at fault but more the box or even the firmware.

Yeah it supports .bin and not DBS. There isn't a channel list out there that I can try....so no channel list.

There's nothing wrong with your box or firmware mate. Just seems like its at the early stages of development....someone will hopefully have a channel list soon.

If you try to save the channel list. In the option it will say save/load select save and it will save a .bin file to the USB. DB (000000).bin

Is there any .bin channel lists out there we can try for this X5 box???

I said in an earlier post its not a usb problem. Have u tried restoring defaults and doing a new channel search and before making any changes to the channels (inc favourites), see if you can save it then in case it's a corrupt channel list.

If it's a firmware issue then providing you have same firmware as hiten and hiten can save the channel list then it's not a firmware issue.

I use MediaBox Editor Studio. This can import a wide range of channel lists. I noticed import type, "PVR-S2/SB5" is a .bin filetype but I don't know whether it's the same type of .bin type as X5.

There maybe other import types that support .bin type that may read the .bin file on the X5.

You may want to try the different import options to see if any can read the .bin filetype as used by X5.

Well restored factory defaults, scanned 28.2e for channels, didn't do anything else and still the same.. save fail.

Even installed the latest January firmware released a couple of days ago and tried again, same result.
