I have split my twin cable in living room using 2 x 2 to 1 splitters. I've done this as my wife still wants to use the sly box and I want the skybox f3 for sports etc. I leave one on standby when the other is in use as I know I can't get a signal for both. I have read about multi switches but not sure if that's what I need, or I was going to go for a octo lnb, can anyone advise on what they think the best and most reliable set up is.

you are best to have each box its own cables from lnbs as boxes have voltage flowing through the cables and you dont want to cook boxes.hotels would have distribution outlets to source their rooms.
remember twin tuners need 2 cables so an octo can do 4 twin tuner boxes.Comment

Thanks guys
I'm pretty new to all this so your help is appreciated. I already have a quad lnb and I've used the spare 2 for my daughters room. I guess the octo is the 1 as I can run another to my bedroom. Maybe you could help with another question. The box I bought came with a "12 month free gift" and as of yet it seems legit and still working, but I've only had it 2 weeks. If I was to buy another box would I just be able to copy the box downstairs or would I have to get a new giftComment

if you buy a box with gift and they do a runner you will be left with a fta box,it maybe more prudent to get a box and source the other thing yourself.
no you cannot copy it as if you did it would be cut off at other end.card sharing is a subject which is taboo and cannot be talked about.Comment
