Which external hard drive?

I am looking at buying a 1tb USB powered external hard drive. Is there any I should avoid? And which one probably best. Have tried 2 different USB sticks in the f3 box but keep getting the too slow error

i use a western digital, i notice it transfers data fast from my computer as well the caddy came with it, and the usb cable also a good cable well made. i know can buy 2.5 caddy on the bay cheap and put your hard drive in, but i could see how slower they are compared to the hard drives manufactures own caddy , it works great on my skybox, and my other boxes as well,
