Skybox F5...Channel Lists (dbs) issues

Hi Guys

I got my Skybox F5 today and did a scan of channels, finds them okay, i can view them etc.

So I think...lets get a decent channel/fav list from this forum and i'll be sweet.

But..I've been having some problems. Whenever I upload a new listing to my box and it reboots I see the favourites in a list..but most of the channels in these lists say NO SIGNAL.

When I scan manually I can view the channels fine, but using someones lists it seems to not like them, like its on a different frequency to when I manually scan?

I'm only using a 28.2e feed. Any ideas whats going on here?

try this dbs works on my f5 http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...mbered-316272/ worth a go and see if you get same problem delete all channels before installing a new dbs. you need your firmware updating aswell get it from skybox.cc latest is SKYBOX_F5_F3_M3_3601HD_CMT_1301230F1C.abs

I did try this one earlier :/...but i'll try again. Ive been deleting all the channel data first but i've not updated the fw. my box comes up with the 'mismatch' error so i think i'll have to use the rs232 port for upgrading the fw if you think it needs doing.

Just tried again. Same happens. Some of them are okay but most of the channels say NO SIGNAL. For example, Animal Planet +1 on channel 535 works fine...but "Blighty" on 534 says NO SIGNAL and the SNR % is like 5 or below. Same as all the sports.

I'm going to do some tests on the Channels I can see on my searches. There must be a difference in the frequencies or something.

Yeah that don't work. It says Mismatch error on the file. I read that this is often the case when your box has been configured to not accept USB updates to firmware and to get around it update via serial.

just a thought are you running two boxes at the same time? if so try switching the other box off to see if you get signal back

No mate, just the one. (Well I have an actual Sky+ box but this is on a different lnb feed)

I think I have found something though.

Check out these tests below on how I find the channel "Sky Sports 1 HD"

I don't find it on the transponder referenced in the file at all??

Well it was in standby..but it must have done something. I went and pulled the plug...and the channel I was watching on the F5 went to...NO SIGNAL!

Very odd...i've deleted the channels and now i'm rescanning.

the only thing we all have in common is an old skydishes mine is 9+ years old mk1 or 2. on a full blind i get 760 odd channels when the other box is off. with the other box turned on i only get 500 and something channels(due to no signal channels not beeing picked up) on a blind scan

ffs no wonder these F5's are cheap. Now I scan...see all my channels, if I delete then update via USB...no channels.

let me try to get it to behave and i'll come back to you with how I get on.

These boxes are mental. I did a factory reset, followed by an update of the dbs file via USB and it shows the channels, but some of them are not in the right order. So I deleted all channels and updated via USB again...NO CHANNELS.

I'm going to manual scan now then update the dbs without deleting the channels.

i was at it for days trying different boxes all my skyboxes did the same put a blade box in on the feed that was loosing the channels no problem with that at all but they are 3x the cost. i just think these skyboxes dont marry with some lnbs

back to the firmware update can you not update via the lan tool programme i know you can transfer files between pc and skybox with it but not sure about update files? never used it just a thought.

I only got this box today so i've not downloaded the tools. I'll take a look into the lan tool.

As for the box, its got a mind of its own. One minute the update from USB works, the next it doesn't. Then sometimes the channels are in an order and other times it just puts them in weird orders and gives me a whole bunch of channels of nothing but odd characters.

What a crazy box.

At this rate i'm thinking of manually doing my own favourite list using the channels it finds on the frequencies it can find them on.

May take me a while, but the quick way of doing it seems to upset this fragile thing!

Thanks for all your advice. I'll check out this tool, maybe I should just update the FW. Do you think it'll help with its mood swings??
