Channel Lists Via FTP on skybox f5

So im wondering if the network update is for firmware only or if its possible to download dbs images over the network / ftp update option.

Also i set up an online ftp server, works fine with cyber-duck ftp client and browser ftp but i cant get the skybox f5 to connect
the box does remember the ftp login details so im thinking for multiple boxes to upload a channel list to the ftp server and a couple clicks of the remote on each box, where ever their location, or on different lans etc

    Anyone tried any of this?

I cant see the point of it for individuals.

I guess the feature would only be of any real usefulness to a seller and/or provider with hundreds of customers ..

Why would it be good? Blindly allowing the box to download & install anything is dangerous if you ask me, especially with these sort of boxes... I personally like to be absolutely doubly sure about what I put on my box, not what some remote server somewhere suggests my box should have...

Not necessarily, if i set a box up for my mum who lives a fair old drive away i could upload a new channel list to an ftp server and shed only have to grab the remote and network update, shed be far too confused with putting files on usb sticks etc.

Just wondered if any one knows anything about this...

True, if it could be used for updating TP_progs then it might be useful in that sort of situation... But then again, your Mum would hate this sort of box and wouldnt use it anyway, its got no EPG...
            ;-)

i was only thinking for TP_PROG, wouldn't risk anything else...

Uploaded a TP_PROG, the box connects to the site but there doesn't seem to be anyway on the remote to do a forward slash
