    Channel loss

Hey every1. Does any of you know is there a filter or something to that effect that can go between skybox f5 connection and cable. The reason I ask is that when I turn on my syk+ box downstairs it makes my f5 lose a few channels. Even if its only on standby. If I turn the socket off at the wall all channels come back upstairs...

I assume your box is on its own separate feed from the LNB... Theres no filter you could use, but you could try swapping the connected outputs on the LNB around, see if that helps...

Don't think this would help mate. Tried different combinations using all the lnb wires. theres 2 goin in upstairs and 2 downstairs.... It happens in different houses aswell. Think it's the f5s problem.. It happens with all of them...

So you've tried it with the F5 downstairs and the Sky+ Box upstairs... Ok, get a different make of LNB ..

probably a bad grounding block on the coax cables where they come into the house.

What makes you think it's a dish problem? Everything works perfect when only one box connected...

First port of call is to refresh the connectors and by this i mean cut and renew and make sure no braid is allowed to touch the inner core or come anywhere close, The Braid not only acts as an external shield to interference it also acts as a ground for the reciever

So forget about the grounding block then and just do this?

As i said thats your first port of call, in all the years i ahve been into satellite i have never had to fit a ground block yet thats not saying i never will or other people have not had to but you need to go through a process of elimination which costs only your time and not money to see if you can cure the problem for free.

Just one more thing to add, I replaced the syk+ box with a cheap bush freesat box and no problems. Tried this in both rooms and no interference.. I think it's mainly due to the syk boxes as I had 2 + boxes and both caused it no matter what room they were in.. Just annoying that I can't have my paid syk and f5 running simultaneously...

number one it's for lightning protection and number two it's for receivers with only a two prong power cord.

I never said it wasn't i just said i have never needed to fit one and the only logical place to fit one is on a high rise and not a standard 2 story dwelling, Two prong power cord have you had a look recently on how many electrical items actually only have a live an neutral it more than you think and most A/V items dont have an earth anymore even the ones with moulded plugs your whole electrical wiring in the house should be grounded to a fashion if it was not i would be very worried.

hello ,I HAD THIS PROBLEM ON AN INSTALL, the punter had a skyplus box and i priced putting in 2 bush sd freeview boxes.Did the job,but a call back saying they could not access all chls. When i turned skybox off the chls came through. When i looked closer ,what ever polorisation the skybox was on ,the bush sdbox had to be on the same ,ie v or h. I rang bush up and they said there were issues with the quad lnbs and there boxes ,which I put down power issues from the bush boxes being poor.I replaced the sd boxes with triax boxes ,and bingo no probs at all.I therefore sumerise that the bush tuners were not giving out enough power ,

                              hope this helps
