Yeah i've taken the box to my place and it works fine!! So it's got to be a problem at his end with the set up!!

Mate who is the ISP where you are having the scrambling issues ?

I would assume the same thing , who is the ISP from. i used to have a lot of issues, i had to change my adsl model to another brand of model and it improved

Hi all,

Right i went to his house yesterday to return the box, and i would say it is def a signal problem!!

It's only the $ channels that do it, it's connected through a ethernet cable and ISP is plusnet!! My dad is with plusnet and he onyl lives about a mile away from my cousin and he has no problems at all

Would the quality of the sat cable be a problem? As i noticed that both mine and my dads has gold coloured strands inside and my cousins has silver!!

The sound carries on where as the picture just glitches for a second and then comes back on, I think it's that the dish might be out just a little bit or the sat cable!!

Could a little nick in the sat cable cause the problem? As it might has been caught when nailing it to the wall!!

I'm going back tomorrow to check all the cable and try and allign the dish, but just wondered if the quality of the cable could have caused the problems i've described

The Copper strands in your cable would mean more than likey you and your father have RDI/CAI approved cable the Aluminium strands means its Just RG6 which does not mean its crap by any standard it just means its not approved by a Governing body that is all.

If he is on plusnet and your father is on plusnet only a mile away means nothing i have seen massive discrepancies in line quality with people being on the same street never mind a mile away, and as you say he is receiving the FTA channels just fine which would rule out the dish be to be sure ask him to tune into CBS action and if he receives this and no blockiness thats a good sign that the dish is pretty much aligned correctly as this channel is on the weaker Eutelsat 28A satellite

His internet speed is roughly 12mb!!

I'm really at a loss at to what is causing the problem then!!

His signal quality is 90% and intensity is 72 to 73%

just a thought, take your box to his place, i know you have taken his to your place, so maybe try other way round, are you both on same router and setting, myself i never use the isp routers they send, disconnect everything that he may have hooked up to router or switch off laptops etc except the satbox. sometimes you can get conflicts with different things hooked up to router,

Yeah he uses the ISP router and no we have different providers plus i live in a totally seperate area to him, but yeah i'm going to try that taking my box to his house!! I never use the ISP router either i always use the same router

Download speed has no bearing on the matter what your looking at is Ping/tracert and Jitter/line quality these are the 2 main factors, just to give you an idea i know some people on Virmin's 100mb and the ping is well over 120ms at times with a jitter of around 25.

This is the major factor in the Glitching without going into too much on a subject we cannot discuss.

Hi all,

Just to update you all, we moved the dish very slightly yesterday and the signal quality went up from 72% to 76% and now all seems to be running fine!! He's going to keep an eye on it today to see if all still ok but yesterday after moving the dish it's appears to have cured the problem!!

So fingers crossed all will still be ok today and thats the problem solved!!

How can the server be sh!t3 / overloaded when the other 2 people are on the same server with no problems? wouldn't these people have the same freezing problems as well?
