    F3 - Lag

Incidentally Vermin throttle connections these days due to over subscription = Lag, loss of connection when receiving key data that your box requires.

Vermin are shite m8 and have too many people for their infrastructure. the only way to rule out your openbox/slybox is try the .cfg in another box and if the problem persists its either the gift or vermin. regards mdt

Oh ffs. An old dial-up modem would provide enough bandwidth for a Skybox/Openbox to connect to CS without issue, broadband throttling wont be an issue...

Im getting fed up with these discussions about CS going on longer than they should... Its against the ****in forum rules ffs.

People are always coming on 'ere moaning about their glitching... Theres no point telling these people anything other than "Your line provider is shit" ...

How is doing ping/tracert going to help? Nobody is going to change ISP based on a ping/tracert result to one server.. And even if its a good result, the provider can still be shit, you've no way of knowing if you're testing the route to the actual card host for the packages you're having problem with.

And finally, Vermin are not shite, I think its people who cant get it that like to bash it..

So there you have it... Anymore whiney "Im getting glitching" or "some of my $ channels dont work" should simply be ignored (due to the fact is against forum rules to discuss it) or simply batted away with the most helpful of responses such as ..... Your Provider is Probably Shit...

Well said nibblitz & straight to the point.....

You cannot make it any clearer than that

"Theres no point telling these people anything other than "Your line provider is shit"

Even the Mrs can understand that & she's as thick as a piss stone

Everyone has an opinion and entitled to share it, Yes the resulting arguments about keep bashing on with this CS talk is quite correct but there are ways of discussing certain aspects without mentioning the actual terms used.

And no i totally disagree with your point that its down to who ever provides the you know what is crap how do you know how does anyone know, the only logical step is start at the receiver with firmware etc... and then work back to the actual service but by eliminating all other factors first and not by providing one sentence answers that are of no use to anyone.

At the end of the day the forum is a community of people all helping each other no matter what the input even if some members dont agree with it they still have an opinion and the right to voice it within the forum rules.

I've learned over the years that sometimes it can actually be a lot more helpful to only give what to some might seem like little help & advice, rather than giving too much seemingly wild goose chase advice, it does save poor souls needlessly wasting their time..

Your not the only one and without embarrassing mdt hes been in the sat scene as long as i have and stuck with it and by that i mean even before analogue became popular, and if a tradesmen went to every job he did and just gave the same excuse all the time without doing any fault finding first they would be out of business in a flash.

Anyhow none of this is helping the OP so lets try and stay on topic

You have clearly had a bad experience somewhere along the line mate with CS. What I have suggested re the ISP being an issue is fact, Virgin do throttle and by that I do mean by up to 75% bandwidth at some times of the day.

As I stated in another thread you never actually know what people do for a living when you interact on a forum such as this, again, I would never give anyone any advice I knew not to be true.

We all have a point of view and everyone should respect this.

                    Take care mate

All ISP's have their lovers & haters. As for VM, I would never take their broadband again if they paid me. There are bound to be some problems with any provider, but it's the way they deal with problems that matter.

I had over 6 months of constant disconnections, with numerous phone calls & "engineers" visits with no resolution before I called it a day. It was only when I phoned to cancel that they offered to send a network engineer down the next day & slash my internet fees, & offer me half price phone etc. etc. Pathetic.

I kept my own graphs of my internet connection, showing disconnections & pings. The one I have attached is to the BBC website. I did others as well (Google, V*****Media, etc.) all with similar results. The red dots show complete disconnections.

So I don't think that you can say that it is always a problem with the line provider.
