Skybox M3 "opening serial port is failed"

Have an M3 here which just shows a red light when PSU plugged in. I have tried reflashing it, but get the message "COM test error!" "opening serial port is failed".

I know that my null modem cable is OK, as I use it all the time to flash other boxes. I'm also using a pc with a proper RS232 port. I tried using another pc with the same result.

I downloaded all the official abs files and tried them all, with the same results. I have tried waiting various times before plugging in the PSU.

I'm running out of ideas. I think it maybe a hardware fault?

Have you tried a different PSU?.. My original PSU went duff, I now use an old spare one I had from a netgear router?

Yep. I have just tried another 12v PSU rated at 2A. Same results.

I sometimes get "set stb memory error" as well, but mainly it's the "opening serial port is failed" error.

Probably not make a difference but try with power on hit start then power off and on. This used to work with dbox.

Tried this quite a few times but still no good.

Ahh...the old Dbox2. I never actually flashed one using serial only. I always flashed mine using the network method.

the loaders were designed for older pc's that still have a serial port like from the xp days
