    Which Box

Hi I'm about to purchase a digital receiver box and use AJ's list, which is the better box to get Openbox S11 HD, Openbox S10 HD or Skybox F3
    Thanks in advance

Out of the ones mentioned the F3 would be personal choice

I bought an F3 a week since as an HD upgrade to a couple of previous boxes on my motorised dish

I have been very impressed by the quality of the pictures in both HD and SD and the sensitivity of the receiver, it pulled in a quite a lot more channels than previously. The PVR feature works well with a suitable USB memory but the YouTubeand You~~~~ features are pretty poor and rather sad.

he manuak is absolute rubbish, a lot of trial and error and searches of the posts required.

Bargain at ?50 odd for the basic box

Im afraid you get what you pay for.
I set one of these up recently and compared to my Dreambox 800 the hd picture was very average in comparison.

                  Hi Andy,

Did you manage to do a side by side comparison as i know that the Ali/STI chipsets are regarded as having a slightly better picture quality than what Broadcom based chipsets can offer such as the DM,VU,ET etc...

I know when i flick between the HD on my DrHD compared to my Solo2 the DrHD has a slightly sharper edge to it compared to the Solo2, I have noticed it get better with Firmware updates but it still cant quite beat my closed source receiver just yet.

                  Regards

Had both on my 42 Lg led tv and could see a significant difference between the two especially on the sports channels like golf and sly sports news.
Was the first thing my mate said when we switched between both boxes.

                    Andy.

                      Hi Andy,

Fair enough cant argue although your probably the first to say it that i know of all the people that i know who own both have agreed that the F3 gave a better quality picture compared to there own Linux Broadcom based one.

To be fair i think it was the F3 and not the F5.
Is there alot of difference between the two boxes?

                        Andy.

To be honest Andy i am not too sure as i have not had an F5 yet so not too sure if it uses another chipset compared to the F3 even though the firmware is the same.

chipset is Sunplus 1512 on x5. as far as picture qualities (my opinion) dm800se a softer pictue. An s11 which as a bright picture. x4 there is more definition you can see the bumps on there faces.
But I like the idea of the IPTV which the x5 got
