    snr signal up and down

    Hi there,

having problems with a few channels where the snr signal is constantly up and down sometimes 75% then drops as low as 0%.

On other channels the signal is perfect and stays well above the 75% mark.

Is this just a signal issue that could be fixed with an inline amp or could this be a faulty tuner in the box?

    thank

some say its lnb issues some say its box issues but it seems to happen when more that 1 satbox is sharing the dish. do you have more than 1 satbox connected to the satdish (ie f5 and sky+)

if you unplug the satdish from the good boxes does your channels come back on the bad box. if that is the case then you might need an amplifer or new lnb or new satbox

Checked the frequencies of the channels seem ok

Yes i have a sky+ box connected thats working fine.

Dish could have moved slightly with all the bad weather snow etc falling from my roof.

The channels did work before that i lost.

i updated my channel list to day with ajs latest list but still seem to have problems and lost a few more channels.

Unfortunately not all frequencies exhibit the same behaviours. Some frequencies are heavily attenuated by water vapour in the atmosphere, some may be affected by harmonic interference (could be from anything, mobile phone towers, microwave datalinks even terrestrial TV) and some may be affected by objects in the beam path (tree's can be very annoying).

The transponders themselves also originate on various satellites within the cluster slot, meaning they may have different beam characteristics and thus different received powers at any particular location.

If generally your reception is good except for the channels on one particular transponder then it would tend to indicate dish alignment is ok and your problem may lie elsewhere. Try to find out which channels are the problem and on which frequency/transponder they lie.

I have f3 box and I share communial dish with 29 other flats,i found when I first moved where I am at present the snr was up and down on various channels which was realy a pain,so I had to ask my housing association if I could put my own dish up (which was granted) solved my snr problem every channel is showing 75%,so I would recommend your own dish if on communial dish..
