    Noob Question - Internet speed

    Hi There,

I have purchased a Skybox F5 with Wifi dongle (awaiting for them to be delivered).

As a nubile, I will have to find my way through this new venture but I hve the following question:

I live out in the country and as such only have a 0.7mbit/s connection, is this going to cause me serious issues?

    Thanks

    J

Personally mate I think the wifi adapter on the F5 will cause you more issues than your Internet speed.

OK, thanks, I can link via RJ45, but would prefer not to trail a cable round the house.

Mate if you do not want to trail cable around the house invest in a set of home plugs. The boxes work a lot better hard wired, the wifi on them is rubbish, works for some but not others.

In terms of your speed, the F5 can actually be ran on 3G, getting the key data from your CS server is more important this is a very small amount of data, say in the region of 5 meg a day or so.

Ping times and the route your ISP takes to your host is actually more important than raw speed.

OK, will either cable or home plug it in. As far as the routing/ping speed... will have to wait and see.
Next stop, looking for that elusive (and trusted) "internet data".. Google here I come!

visit pingtest.net (making sure nothing else is using bb and rerun test again if you get a bad grading.
