    Another N00b query - Skybox F5

    Hi folks,

just got an F5, updated the config and all channels seem to be working but my EPG is totally empty, is there any way to update this and get it working?

turn your box off and restart it if that does not work you will need to do the channel list again

now slightly better, if I go onto a channel it will show now and next but not before I go on that channel. And no more than now and next.

Am I expecting too much from the EPG on such a cheap box?

I am using latest firmware and AJ channel list.

That is one of the downfalls of the Openbox/Skybox range its poor EPG sytem it is limited to now and next only, if you want a better EPG say for 7 Days then you will have to invest in a Better receiver

Thats like a question with an open answer :-), lots of recommendations but first we need to know your Budget? and do you want a Closed source easy to maintain receiver or maybe a Linux Enigma2 one

don't mind spending up to 200 squids, happy to mess about with linux based devices, although the rest of the family just want ease of use, obviously it is important that I can add channels easily from a decent provider.

For another ?20 will get you a Technomate T2-OE twin tuner Enigma2 box runs the same board as a Vu Duo so can do everything the Duo can do, if you want to spend less and dont mind a clone the DM800se at around ?130 delivered is hard to beat and has unsurpassed support and images available for it. Linux also have Unlimited channel memory

You can run Autobouquets which will keep the channels up to date automatically etc.. run iplayer, ITV Player etc.. the list is endless and too much to put into detail on one post have a scout around the enigma2 section to give you a few ideas.
