Orange router light and no Youtube

    Hi all,

Ive had a Skybox F5 for about 2 weeks now and have done a lot of reading of these forums to find a solution to the problem i am experiencing without any real solution that i can make sense of as im not very pc literate, so here goes,

Ive connected my F5 box to my router with an ethernet cable, ALL channels work, including those unscrambled with a certain prezzie. However these do, very often, glitch and freeze upto 3 or 4 times per 10 minutes, which can be annoying. However the real problem i have is the router light is permanently orange and the youtube app only shows the front page of top rated, top viewed and so on, but will not actually play any youtube content.

Ive connected the same ethernet cable straight into my tv and youtube works perfectly so im ruling out a dodgy cable, i think!

Thanks and any help would be very grateful

Could be a number of things mate:

The YouTube app on these boxes is poor to say the least so do not take that as any indication other than the fact your box is connected to the Internet as you can see the top 10 etc.

In terms of the freezing or glitching this could be down to either your ISP or a crappy server.

You need to do a tracert to your providers server, any timeout or high ping times will cause the issues you have. If you can rule out your ISP then the only other option is the server.

Means there is no problem with your ethernet cable the problem might be with your ISP or the servers of your prezzie providers.
You could try a simple ping test when you are getting the most glitching/freezing.
On your pc you have to use the command console:

In win 7 press start menu then in the search window type cmd click on what it finds then in the console enter ping google.co.uk the result should show how long it takes to respond anything below 70ms should be fine and can rule out your ISP.
In win xp press start menu then press run then type in cmd.exe etc...

No youtube might mean you have to update your firmware but if you are going to this remember to do a backup of your prezzie if you can't do a back up you will have to live without youtube.

p.s if you understand the various parts of your prezzie then you could ping their server and see what the response time is.

Mate pinging google will prove nothing, he needs to ping the server of his provider. The route taken to his server will differ from the route to google.

I bough my F3 in Jan and he You Tube wouldn't play with the Oct 2012 factory install software. Upgraded to Jan 2013 and it still wouldn't play. The latest March 2013 update fixed the playback but it is still flaky, some of them playback perfectly but others hesitate to varying degrees
