    Skybox F5 Scrambled/WiFi Problems

    Hi everyone.

i would appreciate it if anyone could help me here. I've currently got an openbox s9 running, and have bought a skybox f5 for my bedroom. I have all the software on it, using a Vonets wifi bridge, everything works on the openbox but it is not working on the skybox. The free channels are, however the other channels are scrambled. Does anyone have any ideas?

    thanks in advance

1.On your F5 in your network settings set dhcp to on
2.In your router if your channel number is high or auto set it 6 or less
    3.Reboot router, reboot F5

Try hard wired or use home plugs mate. The wifi on the F5 is useless and causes no end of issues.

        Thanks for the replys!

Ive done everything you've said Mahrkpat, still not working.

Im gonna try a cable into it Nutty34,just need one as the one I have is about 10" too short!

Little update, the closest I got to success was one of the channels (not allowed to mention which one, although it is a movie) came on for a few seconds intermittently, several times, then scrambling again, thus making me think it's got something to do with the Internet.

Will keep yous updated. Again, cheers for help!

Just to let yous know, and if anyone comes across this problem in the future... It seems that the problem was as nutty34 said, the wifi connectivity on the box is poor, whether this is in general or just when used with the Vonet, not sure! However, I've connected a Ethernet cable straight to the F5 and that has sorted the problem. Again, thanks for the help.

But its not really your Skybox at fault because your wifi is poor, its down to your wifi bridge & your environment. 2.4ghz wifi is crap no matter what its used for, the frequencies are way overcrowded & far too noisey...

Very touchy aren't you ? I suppose the issue with a forum such as this is that you never actually know who you are speaking to and therefore what that person actually does for a living.

In this case what I suggested to the OP has solved his issue which I guess sort of proves my point.

                    Have a nice day

Home plugs are fine mate, if you still have freezing issues then you need to try other things. Try a tracert to your server, any high ping times or time outs will cause glitching and freezing. If your tracert is fine then that would rule out your ISP and point towards your providers server.

I would recommend straight ethernet, as homeplugs lowered my ping which made me lose connection, when i moved my router to near my box and used ethernet it worked with no freezes

Plug one into the mains outlet near your router and attach the supplied Ethernet cable to the router then site the other one near your receiver and repeat
