Pause rewind live tv

Hi, can somebody explain in simple terms how I go about pause rewind on M3 box please.
i have a HD plugged into the back which I'm able to record on but when I pause the picture pauses but the audio continues. Then I press pause again and the picture just restarts along where the audio is. The rewind and forward buttons seem to do nothing.

Press menu go to multimedia then PVR Setting then turn timeshift on

That's on already but still does the same.

Try formatting the hard drive on the box

Ah ok could that be the reason?
i didn't really want to do that as I have around 300 movies on it.
Maybe just buy another one just for recording then will be best option.
Do you know how many hours HD a 80GB Hard drive will record please?
