    Diving inside a openbox S11

Hi i have got a s11 here that im trying to fix. when i try to reflash it via null modem cable it says STB Memory error and i have tried evry firmware out for the s11. So im going to dig deep and do this hardware way i have some experience soldering so what i want to know

Is there a way of me putting a jumper somewhere or blocking a trace to bypass the STB memory error so i can update the box if not if i replace the ali chip would that sort the problem out but ali chip is my plan B if there is no Plan A

When switching on the S11 try increasing the switch on time from quickly to longer in steps after you press next on your recovery software.

    Good luck.

people either have the receiver on when they hit next or turn the receiver on too fast after hitting next. The loader gives you a LONG time to turn the receiver on,so don't be in a hurry. I have hit next only to realize I didn't have the rs232 cable connected.I connected the cable at a leisurely pace and turned the receiver on and it still loaded. The loader Must be version 2.0.0c (the version that you choose the file to load on the 1st screen} a pc with a real comport and a null modem cable.

Is it really worth the effort of trying to replace the chip?

Do you know where to get one?

        How much are they?
