    Skybox F5 keeps rebooting.

    Hi,

Bought myself a skybox F5. All good. Bought my dad one and after a few days his keeps rebooting. Downloaded all flashing software etc. Can you clone my firmware to my dads box? You can dump the abs file but it says something about settings etc. Would be good if I could drop my firmware onto the other box.

You could try it and see if it works if it does not then you know you pretty much have a faulty box, Thats the good thing about a Linux receiver as you can load different backup images from different people or just swap your own from one box to another

I've just turned on a new F5 box and it keeps rebooting. What do I need to do to fix it?

Read post number 4 download the latest firmware and you will need a usb stick formatted FAT 32, copy the firmware onto the usb stick then put in your F5 in the tools section choose the upgrade by usb option.

i have the latest firmware in my F5 and it has rebooted once in 3 weeks...does the odd random freeze as well but mostly when an external USB powered HDD is connected...so maybe a lack of healthy power issue

This isn't a firmware change its a addon, fixed my reboot issues

I found a different solution ot that in post #4. I unplugged everything, then reconnected only the HDMI and power. It booted perfectly. I then tried the cables for the satellite feed and one of those was causing it to shut-down. I then made a new connection and the re-booting stopped.

I had the same problem with a faulty LNB i changed the cable still rebooting swapped the LNB all ok now.
SO check the LNB cable & the LNB. May not just be a software problem.
