openbox s10 quick help needed, ive made a **** up!

    Hi all,

to the point. ive tried to upgrade firmware etc just now which hasnt gone to plan (i got this one form this site:http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...s9-s10-214492/) the bottom openbox file.

to start with the menu screen is the same although orange but thats no matter but ive lost everything i had. the main thing is the satellite list is something i havnt seen before, i did have only 6 in the list, none of them were astra and now its gone down to 2! there is only true vision E78.5 and DTV E78.5 showing where as i used ot use astra 28. something???

whats going on?? i have no channels!

    hope you can help......

you always back up everything before any upgrade, especially your channel list.
If you don't you have to start from scratch or load a sat/channel list from your viewing area.

I appreciate that now but I didn't. I have aj's channel list, my cline on a USB ready to go. Can you advise how to get my box back to factory settings? The factory reset option in menu doesn't seem to do this

Factory Reset will just put it back to the software you have installed.

Put AJ's channel list on and that should sort the sats out.

          Tried that but no good.

Could anyone give me a definative answer of how I can just get my unit back to working. I have no issue reinstalling my cline and scanning sats. At the sec I any find the correct satellite.

I'm not very good at this so basic instructions would be very appreciated

          Thanks

What do you mean by "no good"? What actually happens when you upgrade your TP_PROG.dbs file?

If you want to perform a blind scan from scratch, you need to enter the info for a new Satellite. Installation > satellite list > add (green button). Enter name of satellite & longitude (28.2e). Press OK (yellow). Press OK to add tick. Press exit.

In the antenna setup menu, select the satellite you just created. Set LNB freq to universal (9750 - 10600). Exit. Then do a blind scan or accurate scan for the new satellite.

If you do a scan, however, your channels will be listed according to transponder frequency, & not in any particular order.

Do as Hadron says and then download and put AJ's channel list to give a nice order to your channels, once you have fixed everything to your liking the first thing you should do is go to menu, tools menu, select dump to usb, choose image.abs press start then in the drop down window tick everything then o.k this will save everything for when things go wrong.
You will of course need a usb stick formatted to FAT32.

Well I did the above (added the sat etc) and the scan got all channels!! Great! But then in upgrade via USB the .tbp (or whatever it is - aj's list) and it just deletes the lot! The sat I installed is gone and replaced by the original unknown ones!

Something is very wrong but I can't see what I can do?

Then only thing I can think is, should I be removing the old channels etc first, perhaps fac reset the box before I do all the above?

It sounds like you are upgrading the complete image, rather than just the channel list.

In "upgrade mode" you have to select "misc files". Then in "select & upgrade", select TP_PROG.dbs.

Make sure that the TP_PROG.dbs file on your memory stick is actually AJ's one & not an old one you had on there previously. Perhaps delete it & copy it across again.

Some members say that there is no need to delete the old channel list first, but on my S9, I have had problems in the past if I don't. I have ended up with some kind of hybrid list of old & new!

I've sorted it now chaps. I THINK it cause the channel list was .DBS and not .dbs?? I re save the channel list and upgraded and its ok.
There are a few dead lines on the channel listings as I ha to rename the favs but it works!!

now to work out if I can get hdmi working again!?

I have noticed that there have been a lot of S10's on Ebay lately with non-working HDMI. It maybe a common fault with these boxes.

Does your TV display an error message when you connect by HDMI (such as "unable to display this resolution" or "resolution out of range" etc.)? If so, check the "video resolution" setting in "TV system" menu on the S10. It may be incorrectly set for your TV.
