You can try to use the this ftp tool:FTP Tool.rar
But the way you are describing your fault I think you will have to use a null modem cable with a USB to serial port converter I would recommend HL_340, it supports Win XP, Vista and Win 7 32 bit.

as far as i recall you cannot use usb adaptors it has to be serial port to serial port with null modem cable only, might be a few posts around with the same problem.

Most people with modern pc's do not have a serial port, it is a bit hit and miss but the converter I have specified seems to work for a lot of people.

I explained this in another post and needs to be put to bed so to speak due to inaccuracy, As i explained all Modern Tower based PC's either shop bought or home built will have a COM port adaptor on the motherboard itself all that is required is a ?4 adaptor available from ebay and plug this into the main motherboard itself which is quite easy and is not rocket science.

I do agree with the fact that most Laptops these days are void of this port and of course this is when the USB to Serial adaptor is required if you can get one to work.

It may not be rocket science but do you really think people would be comfortable opening up their pc a survey recently carried out showed that a lot of people in their 20's and early 30's did not have a screw driver at home and still relied on their parents for basic diy.

Then maybe those people surveyed should not own a satellite receiver such as an F3/F5 as well, then maybe the questions relating to how to recover a bricked one may cease

Unfortunately, not all modern motherboards have a com port header on the motherboard.

After posting in the other thread about this, I decided to look into adding an RS232 connector to my Asus P8H61-MX motherboard. I have just found out that it doesn't have the header connector for it! Grrr...

Hmmmm! strange must just be that range as the H61 -Plus and above have them built in so no need for an adaptor either. I take it yours is the MATX range

Just taken the side off the pc to double-check.

If it was just the header itself that wasn't fitted, then I would have soldered one in myself, but the controller chips are not fitted either.
