You got to flash firmware.

With the tool above follow this recovery guide.

Also if you don't have serial port on your pc you will have to get a USB Serial converter, I would recommend HL-340 it supports WinXP, Vista and Win7 32 bit.

ok so i got the port adapter the one u recomend, i follow the instructions, and i get to stb syncronising, please reset target, i plug the skybox m3 power in, nothing happens. ive tried different firmwares stll nothing, i literally only get a red light when i plug it in, nothing else

The message means your pc is not communicating with you M3.

1.Check to see you are using correct COM port: Win 7> press start in search type device manager then go to port to see what is assigned to yor usb adapter
Winxp press start then in run box type devmgmt.msc then enter or right click my computer and navigate to device manager.

2.Remember to tick the boot loader option on recovery software.

probably turning the receiver on too fast or have it on when hitting next.
The receiver has to be off, hit next, then turn it on at a casual rate.

Starting to bug me now, I didnt even flash the thing n then I noticed the green numbers were on plugged in to my tv n it was on working fine, 20 minutes later it froze and gone back to its state of just being on the red light and nothing else,

Are you sure it just needs flashing then and is not dead?

possibly, but it just had red light on before, it came on by itself now gone off again
