Do a speed test see what your getting, also if its virmin then there have been a few have problems with the super hub, I once checked my sons speeds through the super hub when his box was glitchng and his speeds showed slower then the old dial up modems, I rebooted the router and it was slightly better..
If it isn't broke, don't try fixin it..!!!

Ping ranges from 100-300,speed from 30-36 Mbps I'm on talk talk, thanks for your reply, its been ironically pretty good tonight so I'll resist messing with it for fear of messing it up!!it was just weird that it ran really nice until fibre put in,but can't see that it could run too fast!got cat 6 Ethernet, new port new router, new receiver thingy on dish!only thing I query is there's a dual cable coming from dish as I used to have sky plus, and I've only got 1 cable into box obviously. Signal intensity is 90% and signal quality around 72%

Signal quality and intensity are good, ping seems high, when I ping mine is 24ms

Loads of threads about this and to put it simply its traffic shaping exactly the same as what Virmin do during the day your speed and ping are fine as soon as everyones home from work your screwed ping goes froma healthy 20ms up to an atrocious 300ms i have seen it with my own eyes and Talk Talk are no different with there traffic shaping especially on fibre, personally if you had wanted to go with Fibre through a telephone line then BT should have been the first choice as they have no traffic shaping on the unlimited pack.

But as always price dictates in these matters exactly the same as why people have more problems with these Openbox/skybox compared to something like a Vu

Thanks for responses,Im just trying to see if there is anything I can do to help?are there settings on the router that can help lower the ping?I've ran 5 tests today and lowest had 99,200,205,300 etc, what's strange is that certain channels play fine,And others skip glitch, then come up scrambles temporarily. Very frustrating as it was OK.

Hi, not alot you can do i'm afraid, as digicon says it is most likely your internet service provider that has made changes, which they do during peak times

Change your Broadband Provider even a Ping time of 99ms is sky high it needs to be under 50ms all the time, the jitter and error rate on your line must be bad if your getting some test at around 300ms.

As i said in my previous post Price dictates and when you buy cheap you get Crap simple as that

Is your Internet FFTP or FTTC ? You could try calling your provider and telling them you are getting a lot of lag when playing Xbox live. Ask if they can put you on fastpath.

As a pointer my ping times are never above 15ms, I have FTTC.

Bt & Talk Talk and all other Leased BT lines using fibre are connected via FTTC unless you fancy paying BT thousands to have Fibre optic up to your premises which normally only Business's do.
