Read This Thread Here: http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...-cable-233298/ but just to let you know someone else had the same problem and the Box is now Goosed so i assume you pretty much just threw your money away.

I don't think you can recover the X5/X6 using a RS232 cable and there is no recovery software for it either correct me if I am wrong.

I have an open box x6 that is not booting after an attempt to upgrade the software. The RS232 instructions don't work either. Can anyone please help?

Not sure if this works mate but i found it on the net

          Thx to pargyavan....

Here is the full process of recovery, if your box is dead due to power cut during the upgrade. It is suggested not to upgrade without power backup

          Note:
With this, you can flash receiver via any USB port, even receiver was dead..

How to Boot from USB drive?
Step 1: Create recovery folder in USB drive
Step 2: Copy bin file to the recovery folder of USB drive.
          Cautions)
          1. USB drive shall be FAT32 file format. Its doesnt support NTFS format.
          2. Only one related .bin file shall be in recovery folder.
          3. Do not change the file name. If it is different, the boot from USB will not work.
Step 3: Attach the USB device to the STB via any available USB port.
Step 4: Turn power on while pressing OK key on front panel.
Step 5: Keep pressing OK key until showing Lxxx message on LED of front panel.
Step 6: Check TV screen that s/w is recovering(updating) by USB drive.
Step 7: The STB will restart automatically after finishing s/w recovery (update).

But according to the feedback it works on the X5

I created a folder called recovery and put the .bin file inside and booted the x6 with the drive attached. I don't have an OK key on my STB. No luck. I only have a green light on the front that turns red momentarily and then back to green during the boot sequence. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Does it not have a front flap that opens to reveal the buttons?

I have a front flap that opens to reveal the card slot. The only buttons on the front are Power, channel up, channel down, volume up, and volume down. There is a power switch on rear.

It looks like the X6 is upgraded/recovered with a Null Modem Cable and compurer.

Take a look on the link. You will need to register to download the software and PC Upgrade tool.

I have tried that procedure many times with no luck. I keep getting "Target is error state" message.
