    skybox f5 and wifi

bought a skybox f5 and it came with a wifi dongle so tried setting up with the wifi dongle in but it couldn't connect to the router when I put the correct password in for the router it just came up on the screen timeout, only thing I did to the box before putting the wifi dongle in was updated the image from the stock one which came on it whch had a iron man background, I replace it with a spooby snacks image, what is the best image to use a wifi dongle on a skybox f5 box thanks

try changing modem security to wpa or wpa 2 a quick fix sometimes works when you get the timeout message reboot box usuall connects on restart.Being truthful wifi on skyboxes isn't very dependable I have one f3 thst will connect wirelessly every time the other three? not so good

It's the router settings mate , go into the wireless settings in the router and there is a security type . Wpa , wpa2 etc . About 3 or 4. Of them .. Here dongles only work with one encryption method ... I know virgin media they work as it is but iv had nightmares trying do couple others for people

A friend of mine had exactly the same problem, we solved it by buying a TP-LINK TL-WA850RE Universal WiFi Range Extender (other range extenders are available ) this picks up your wireless network and extends it's range BUT it also has an Ethernet port on the bottom to connect the skybox with a network cable. This then allows you to free up the USB port on your skybox, it took him no more than a few minutes to set up and connect his skybox
