    F5 upgrade

Had the F5 for about 4 months now, and although it serves its purpose well for what it is, it does feel some what cheap in itself and its features. My question is what would be the natural progression in upgrading ?.Not sure i`m at the dreambox/vu level yet but was looking at the Technomate tm-5403 Hd as a replacement box.

    Any thoughts ?

you may want to consider what you want from receiver. is it to do away with a manual update of channel list. is it to watch and record one or two things. do some research on your thoughts.

For both of you your next step step up should be a Linux Enigma2 receiver as the 5402 is just a high end Closed source receiver compared the the closed source tat that is the Openbox/Skybox range.

Genuine Single Tuner E2 Linux can now be had for around ?120 the TM Nano so perhaps start there and look at others

No Problem at all i only mentioned the Nano as it is pretty new but runs E2 and has the same chipset and dual core processor as the Vu Duo but only single tuner but for ?120 it certainly prices out the Clone 800se maybe not for images but for Quality and its original with 12 month warranty will be hard to beat.

Like i said there are others available but your going up in budget

I think i should have been clearer in my original post, to what i want in terms of usage from a receiver.2 things really, first being able to record other channels as well as a full "Working" Epg.I currently have a 78cm motorized dish plus the F5 and although the family are quite happy to just flick through the channels, i would like to put the dish to work.
Reading up on the "Nano" it only ticks one box.
As in my first post the thought of using linux based machines gets me all twitchy with fear. What sort of things do the use of these receivers add that is lacking in the closed source receivers ?.And are they easy enough to master ?.

Triple Tuner as in 1 x DVB-S2 1 x DVB-T 1 x DVB-C so no twin tuner for satellite so pretty much the same as every other single tuner E2 receiver.

Twin tuners go up in price around ?180 and you will get full 7 day EPG and loads of plugins for recording such as Autotimer which will make it as close to a $ly box as possible

The Image Flashing side is done via USB but adding extras such as Plugins can be done via an online download and the special Gift so to speak is done via FTP into the box itself
