sounds like you bricked your box you will need a null cable to reload the firmware

Are you using a null modem cable (not just serial), go to device manager and see what port you are using, the port number you see here use it in your recovery software remember to tick the include boot loader option and lastly your box has to be off until you press next and it says ''synchronising stb reset target' then switch it on.

Can I ask where you purchased the f5 clone from and how much?

From what you've said I take it wasn't sold as a clone.

If you think it is a clone try this site for recovery tool and firmware www.hddvbsw.com
But if you got nothing to lose open the F5 and look around the Ethernet port check for loose connection or dry joint, the F5 were not manufactured to a good standard therefore a lot of people getting different hardware problems.

Try using someone else to contact him with a view to purchasing and see if you can get an address to collect from.

A lot of sellers of satellite receivers on gumtree are scammers and advice for the future do not buy with a gift.
