If I were you mate I'd stick with the firmware on the box, there's only been 3 firmware releases for f3/f5 this year tbh no great difference in either. It's probable you've got a version of one of them installed any way.You could end up doing a lot of reflashing to no avail til you get a 'hit' or even get bricked.Stick with what you've got you're not missing anything.

Thanks guys, have contacted seller and he has agreed to exchange the box as even he thinks something is not right. Having looked closer now think it may be a cheap clone.

What would you recommend a skybox or an open box?

            Thanks Barry

Personally None of them i would say save a little more money and get something half decent where you know it wont fail because of power supply issues, you can flash an image without having to worry about 'File mismatch issues' and bricking it, and you get more than now and next on the EPG.

              But thats just me

                Thanks Digicom,

what do you have in mind, remembering it must be easily set up and maintained and I only have the sky dish in place?

You need to be looking to spend around ?130 to ?150 for a half decent box, Lets put it this way when this goes tits up on 28.2? east then the massive influx of these Openbox & Skybox on ebay they will be pretty much worthless as it happened with the Dbox2 on cable most people just binned them or stuck them in the loft.

A half decent receiver now will garnish you about 75-80% return if you come to sell it on when you dont need it.

Depends what your budget is and what sort of box you want, just have a look on the usual E-Tailers such as Goldwafers,Red Apple Digital,World of Satellite even ebay

Just wondered what you meant by it all going tits up?
