Skybox F3/F5 Loop Through to Sky+ Box

I've found lots of comments about looping the LNB signal, saying both you can and can't do it, which have left me a little unsure about this. It will probably only be a temporary setup until I get another cable in place, but I want to keep the dual LNB feed to the Sky+ box and sit the Skybox on top and loop one of the LNB feeds through it to the Sky+ box.

I know both can't be used at the same time, so will that cause any problems? What happens if the Sky+ box is recording and I turn the Skybox on? Any risk of voltage damage to either box, etc?

    Cheers.

I dont think theres any risk of voltage damage but if you are going to set up using the loop the signal will go to your + Box while your Skybox is in standby. As soon as you put your Skybox onto a channel the loop will swith off thus stopping he signal to your + box. That said the second feed wont be affected so could still record one channel.

Why dont you just use one feed in the F5 and one feed in the official box remember to set the Official box to single feed mode only, Then if you need to record set that on the official box and watch everything else on the F5

I have one feed going to each box - ie: 1 to Sky+hd box and 1 to Skybox F5. And then a loop going from F5 to 2nd input on Sky+hd box.

i can watch separate channels on each box at the same time.

i can watch one channel and also record a second channel at the same time, on the Sky+hd box.

If both inputs are being used on Sky+hd box, (ie: watching and recording), the Skybox F5 shows Scrambled/invalid channel.

My Sky dish setup is only ~1 year old.

        hope that helps.
