    RS232 to usb cable

ive updated my software and killed my F5 box (E001 error) and im sure i now have all the software needed to do a re flash, but dont have access to a tower PC with an RS232 serial port.

i have a serial RS232 Null cable (9 pin female port both ends) but am wondering do the serial to usb cable adaptors work? maplins have them and ill pick one up when they open but ive read they dont work?

    Thanks

I've been using a USB to Serial for over five years without any problems.

You just need to make sure you have the drivers instaled for the device to work and make sure you are using the correct port number.

The attachment contains the drivers for the ones sold in Maplins

I seem to recall you being told about the f5 giving problems yet you bought one instead of the older F3 which is more reliable.
