    Killed my S11

    Hi,

I could do with some advice on how to bring my S11 back to life. I was editing the channels with setedit, uploaded ok via USB to the box, rebooted and now it is stuck with boot on the lcd, it was working perfectly until then.

Do i need to flash upgrade this to fix this issue? What image would people recommend, I have no idea if it is a clone or not... :-|
Can I do this via a USB to rs232 cable?
And to add to the excitement I have a Mac, do I need to find an xp machine?

    Cheers for any help,

    Jim

beg borrow steal an old pc with serial port.
There are numerous threads on openbox recovery.
There was never any loader for macs, which don't have any serial port anyway, except for the antiques.

Any recommendations on which image to use, or how to find out if the s11 is a clone or not?

      Thanks,

you won't know if it's a clone until it boots again and you check the sys info screen for the chip id

Just have both the original and the clone one handy, try the original first if that doesn't work try the clone.

I use the anonomuosx clone safe on all s10 and s11. Its the same firmware with the bomb removed.

once the firmware is loaded and boots, avoid turning the receiver on and off until you can check the sys info screen.
If it's a clone on the next reboot it will be dead with genuine firmware.

got everything working again, thanks for the advice

I ended up having to use an xp desktop as the laptop wouldn't work for some reason, maybe I should keep an old desktop around for such occasions!!!

I flashed it with anonomuosx and then updated with AJ channel list. Now I need to rearrange the channels as I would like them.

                cheers and thanks again
