    Information Required about SkyBox F5

Hi all I am thinking about buying a Skybox F5 after my DM7025 PSU finally gave up after replacing the caps 3 times in a year and something else then blew up on it.

Before I buy the F5 I need some questions answered so I know if its worth me buying or not.

My questions are based on my knowledge of using my DM7025 so here goes.

    (1) Is the F5 Open Source (I.E Can I get custom images for it) if so where do I get the images.

    (2) Is the F5 an Enigma2 based unit (this may also answers question 1).

    (3) Does the F5 have FTP access like the DM7025 had.

    (4) Is there any good boquet editors similar to "Dreambox Edit" that I used to use for the DM7025.

I think that's about all I need to know, I am really hoping that number 2 is relevent.

    Thanks

Anything dreambox or VU is out of the question as they are to expensive, I am on the NMW at work and after paying bills ect I have ?20 a week left for me that has to buy my fags so after that I'm left with ?10 so am buying on a budget so nothing above the ?50 I have managed to save

Thanks all I went for the F3 in the end as advised above it is a far better looking box anyway, not to bothered about the steps being taken with cards so long as I can get just one HD channel I will be happy as I want to test my TV's HD if I only get the HD channels for 1 day I will be a happy bloke.

I have to say I have had my F5 for quite a while now, and for ?50 in my humble opinion the only thing crap or s**te about it is the epg.
It does everything I need and I have had no problems whatsoever. Using AJ's list for which I must say many thanks, I get all the channels
free and pay with no problems. Also as a caravaner it is brilliant. I tether it to my phone using the wireless so I don't even miss the ashes.
Again there may be better boxes but I bet you have to pay a lot more for them.

              Regards glyn

I understand that the 500s is now made in Hong Kong Tiawan go Wong.

I think the main terrestrial channels like BBC1,BBC2,ITV1,C4 all HD are all fta on satellite correct me if I am wrong.

That maybe but they work without having to use a botched 'No signal Fix' to watch some channels and then about 3 months later change half the capacitors on the board because the PSU is not up to the job

I think i'll stick to my Too Wong Fong 500s thanks
