Openbox s10 will not boot up and no display

Hi Guys, hope you can help me as I am new to this.. I updated the channel list then rebooted my openbox s10, the box was stuck on 'ON' for a while so I switched it off on the mains and switched it back on again but the box will not boot up and the display is not coming on either as if there is no power, however there is power as the tv screen changes to 'no signal' Please help!

    Power Supply Unit.

If your good with a soldering iron you can replace the blown caps.

You can get a complete unit from Hong Kong for about ?6.00 (Up to 28 days delivery)

Ebay had them for about ?12.00.

Could also be a corrupt firmware which also shows up as a dead box.

Perhaps worth trying a reflash using the RS232 serial method.

A new PSU made no difference however I got hold of someone whos pc has a RS232 port and as DW190 suggested flashed the ROM using the NULL modem cable. This has resolved the issue. The box is working as before. THANKS GUYS FOR ALL YOUR HELP REALLY APPRECIATED!

Haldron made that suggestion. Kep hold of the PSU as your likely to need it in the future.

                .
Sorry to jump in but I've the same problem. It's def not recoverable using the RS232 tried all morning and I know the cables and set up's working as I can connect to a dm500 with Dreamup.

I'm OK soldering, can you tell me which caps are the likely culprits that need replacing ? any pic's would be ideal

                  On the S10/S11 PSU, it's C11 (1000uF 10v) & C15 (470uF 10V) that are the usual caps to fail.

The tops of the caps should be completely flat. Any signs of bulging & they will need replacing.
