    Skybox F5 best router settings

Think ive seen this somewhere but my mates just bought on of these crap boxes and it works perfectly on my network but on his its very intermittent. Possibly his security settings on the router as ive tried my Dreambox at his and its the same so im guessing its internet related yet when I do a network test it comes back fine. All fta are fine any other advice will give it a go. Im pulling my hair out,ive even disabled his security but its still the same. Andy

He did say his internet was rank but I cant see it being that. I did try my Dreambox on it last week with a long Ethernet cable and it seemed fine so possibly the new home plugs but not tested as yet at mine,Andy

Just had a thought its possibly the extension gang he has plugged in. Ive came across this before so will try that later and go direct into mains for the home plugs, Andy

I've just fitted Home Plugs / Powerline Adaptors, the instructions say to have them plugged directly into the wall socket and not into extensions etc

Cured my initial problem it was the gang which i suspected but then got the Login/Offline problem which took best part of 2 hours turning the Dhcp on and off all night,Im sure there must be an easier fix than this other than chucking the pile of crap in the bin

                Andy.

Home Plugs do work on Extensions just not the type that have circuit breakers/Anti Surge and Extension Type that clean your mains for A/V use, Just buy the cheap standard ones and you will be fine

Had more problems testing the Skybox F5 on my own network, constantly getting Login/Offline. With a bit of searching the forum I found Digicons post about turning the Dhcp on and off and rebooting the box because it has a habit of not saving the ip address. This worked straight away on my network I'm hoping its going to work on my friends network now. Just proves by using the search button you can find the answers you require, cheers Digicon. Andy
