What do you mean by "not working"?

Is a memory stick or external hard drive recognised by the box (does a message appear a few seconds after you plug it in)?

Is the memory stick or hard drive formatted?

I had a seagate external 1.5tb hardrive one time that the openbox wouldn't recognize unless it had old june 2011 firmware installed.I ended up removing it from the external case and sticking it into a usb3.0 case instead.
