Skybox F5 sparks and dies...

I've got a Skybox off a mate here, he'd done a single satellite scan and it was stuck on ok afterwards so he pulled the power out of the back. There was a spark, not sure about a bang, and would not power up after.

I've tried a different power supply with no joy. Would it be worthwhile getting a serial lead and trying to recover /reflash it?

There's no signs of burn on the pcb.

Its always worth a try especially for a couple of quid for a lead anyway

II'm sure i have read on DK about some transistors blowing on the circuit board
but for the life of me i cannot find it......they are a few ? off ebay & a very easy fix

But it could be the cable fix you need

having an on/off switch might have been a safer option than pulling a plug would it not?

Would if the F5 had one .....the cost of installing this would of been to pricey the box would of cost almost a tenner to make
