    Skybox F5 USB dilemma

I want to get a F5 but I have heard it only has one USB port. This is a problem as I need to connect the WiFi dongle and a USB memory stick so I can record.

Connecting to internet by ethernet is not possible as my router is too far away.

Is there a way around this?

Any help would be much appreciated.

You could use homeplugs to connect to the internet & the usb port is free for your memory stick

Thanks for the reply. Will these work ok? I have Sky Fibre optic broadband and get a consistent 20mb download speed. Also what does the box do with the internet connection? And will it decrease my speeds on other devices?

      Many thanks

The Homeplugs just use your existing Electrial power lines to distribute the Broadband signal, These are about as close as you will get to actually hard wiring the box with an ethernet cable

These devices act like a wired connection and it will not affect the speed of your other devices on the same network, the internet connection on the F5 enables you to watch youtube, you~~~~ it also helps with something we can not discuss on this forum in details.

i have a gm spark box, which also has one usb port but i use a powered usb hub and this works fone with a couple of usb things plugged in. now as far as im aware you could try one on the f5 and if your lucky the hub will work but use a self powered one (mains) and dont overdo the amount of usb devices you plug in.
might be worth googling to see if anyone else has any dorect workings with the f5 and a usb hub.

A wifi repeater is another option which also extends the range of your home wifi network...from it you connect to the F5 via the ethernet port....i use 1 on my F5 as well as my Sky HD box....no proplems at all and they are only ?15 ea on ebay.

The USB on the F5 only supports 1 device at a time..only found that out myself after trying a USB hub in it.

Good choice. You can also add to them if you have other devices around the house or a Smart TV.
