    SkyBox M3 HD PVR

    Hi Guys,

I have got a Skybox M3 HD PVR box and its the first box like this I have ever had...I originally wanted a dreambox but was advised to go for this one.

All in im pretty happy with the box, another friend has a VU+ Duo and it seems like there is a lot more he can do with that box and his picture looks a lot better...

What im looking for is some advice to see if I should change my box to a VU+ Duo or just keep what I have?

The only problem I have with mine is that the picture glitches and freezes a lot more than my mates does and I was wondering what could be causing it?

When I change channel the SNR (signal strength?) rarely goes above 74-75%, is that the reason why it freezes?

Any advice or help people can give me would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers

you may find you have trouble obtaining a duo as I dont think they have made any this year, its replacement is the duo2, or the solo2
yes they are miles better than a slybox, but they will be as the price differences are massive

the point about satellite signals is that what matters is the quality not the signal, so what you really have to check is the signal and quality, but as long as there is a signal lock with good quality you wont get freezing, but you may get a bit of glitching in bad weather (storms , heavy rain etc)
when the weather is reasonable you should find the fta channels like bbc1HD are fine, in which case they should all be fine, so freezing is more likely down to your provider
if the cause was your "provider" then changing the box will not help you at all, the rule being - c**p in = c**p out

on 28e you should get signal and quality of between say 75% and 98% , typically 80 to 95 %, especially on freesat

I explained this before in a few other threads there is a problem with the Skybox series and there so called Signal Quality reading in other words it displays between 74-76 level on all transponders due to firmware bug which as far as i can tell has never been fixed.

In other words take the reading with a pinch of salt cause it dont work
