    Skybox F3 HELP!! Please

    Good morning,

Firstly and my main problem is that i have a Skybox F3 to which the firmware is corrupt and is now displaying " LoAd " when switched on. I have read the main topics within this forum regarding flashing the box with new firmware via a null modem cable or RS-232.

I purchased an female to female DB9 cable and an USB to DB9 adapter and installed the recovery tool software.

The main problem i have is when i connect the Skybox to my pc via usb to DB9 cables the computer displays that its unable to located a suitable driver, in device manager it is displayed as " USB2.0-ser! " I am currently running windows 7 ultimate 32 bit OS.

I am unable to go further as i can't communicate with my Skybox.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

What make is your adapter? The adapters are a bit hit and miss when flashing openbox/skybox, would be handy to get a old pc with a rs232 port if you can probably would have cost you the price of a adapter.

      Is it an HL-340 adapter?

If so, W7 drivers are available from here:-

HL-340 Drivers (RS232 USB Cable) ? Tom Doyle

      CH341SER.EXE

Don't be concerned about the Chinese site. From what I've read, many others have downloaded from there without problems.

Thanks guys for your help, looking into it I have allready installed the relevant drivers and now think its to do with my pc. I have an older pc with the rs232 port and will try that to see if it made any difference.

        Much appreciated
