Hi, I'm new to this forum and my knowledge of satellites is next to nothing. I was looking to purchase the Skybox F5 box from eBay for ?50 and then buy a gift separate for ?30-40 for 12 months. From what I've been reading I would be wasting my money as Sky will be issuing new cards meaning I won't even see a months worth of TV for ?89-90. Is this true and are there any ways round this? I wasn't looking to spend more then ?100 on box and channels and wanted something reliable and easy to set up. Any advise would be appreciated thanks

The rules here don't allow talk of "gifts"... so keeping it simple:
Buy a skybox F5 for about ?50. This will still get you access to all the FTA channels at what your dish is pointed to.
Don't buy a "gift" off ebay. Other sources let you pay on a 1/3/6/12 monthly basis.
Sky are indeed implementing a new card pairing method (not necessarily new cards though) which has the potential to stop what's happening. Note if this DOES happen, your Skybox F5 will still be more than capable of receiving FTA satellite signals (aka FreeSat), and you could always position your dish to point at another satellite. -
