No Signal and channels breaking up

What are the reasons behind "no signal"?

I have got the latest channel guide using AJs. The movies work fine, then I go in to sky sports and its unwatchable! Freezing, stopping, starting then goin off with "no signal"!

I don't understand? Can anyone help?

    Cheers

In the new firmware scramble channels show up as no signal channel therefore I suggest your problem lies with your gift your server is probably overloaded, everyone watching sports.

I dont think i have the new firmware, as the box is about 2 years old now, its the OpenBox S10.

After flicking through the channels its not just the sport, its a mixture of channels now, some movies as well.

I keep emailing the guy who provides my line, he says everything is fine his end there are no problems and everyone else is ok.

My mate also has the same provider and he has no problems.

So struggling to see where the issue is?

Channel list? Firmware? Old Box? Coax Cable? The ethernet cable is directly connected from the router, so internet is ok.

        Lets get this clear.

Scrambled is something to do with provider, internet or network settings..

No Signal is something to do with signal from your dish, cabling or even the tuner in the box. It also shows No Signal when a channel has changed frequency or been rmoved.

ill get some new cable then and give that ago, on amazon you can get 50m for ?12.

Just weird how some channels are ok, others are intermittent and sky sports is really bad though.

If its intermittant take a look at the connections and see if any of the outer strands are managing to touch the inner cable.

How long ago was your dish last aligned?

Not all channels are received with the same signal strength. Some are weaker than others. It may be, that over the years your dish has moved slightly & needs realigning to get all channels at maximum strength.

Had the dish up for 4 years since we moved in to the house, its a new build so its only been up those 4 years. Just had a look at it and it seems pretty sturdy.

Suppose i would have to get a satellite guy to look at all this.

I'll try the connections at the back tomorrow, if its still the same, i might try a new cable from the dish itself.

Just really annoying me at the moment, when everyone else's box is running fine and mine keeps running into issue after issue.

Then if its a transponder in the box, ill have to buy a new box. Otherwise back to paying a fortune on sky :-(

Not sure if this will be any use to you but you never know ! I set the LNB skew on my dish anti-clockwise-15.6 but obviously it will be different for you but just give it a go,, the difference between 20% and 80% signal strength was a matter of millimetres so I'd have someone looking at the signal on sly sports 1 as you move it,, it is a hell of allot better than it was , on the hd channels it would glitch/freeze/scramble on average of twice a minute and after I adjusted it might freeze for a sec or two every hour ish,,, the fact that the problem is withy the horizontal channels I think it might just do it,, ,from doing it so much to what it is now it feels like a new box ,, just thought I'd share it incase it is an option for you mate.

...or if you adjust it while facing your dish, rather than from behind the dish, (which is normally easier to do when you are up the ladder) then it will be clockwise, roughly half way between 6 & 7 o'clock position.

there has been a problem reported depending on what lnb your using and problem on hd channels and horzontal and vertical channels they are selling a hardware mod on fleabay which has a diode and capacitor in parallel suspect the voltage between h and v channels are varying
