Micro Panel Flashing On F5

I bought a Skybox a few months ago..All channels incl... The channels then run out, so i put it in kids bedroom as a FTA box...(Ive now brought it back downstairs to "sort it out" and watch al channels again), Only to find it it stuck on a certain channel, and everytime i press a button it just makes the Micro Panel come up..I cant seem to move across to any of the boxes on the M.P. .Strangley enough non of my kids are owning up as to how long its been like this in the bedroom...Any suggestions greatly appreciated

I wouldn't be suprised if someone has spilt pop on the remote
Give the remote a clean over with some isopropyl alcohol if you have any

I suppose the first thing to do, is to determine whether it's the box or the remote. If you know someone else with a Skybox/Openbox (but not the X3, X4, or Q3 as these use different remote codes), perhaps you could borrow their remote & try it. If not, they are available on Ebay for under ?4.

If it's a fault on the box itself, then reflashing clean firmware might cure it. It would have to be done by the RS232 serial cable though, as you cannot access the menus to update by USB.

Thanks for replies...Im going to be borrowing a friends remote over next couple of days to try that...and if that fails it sounds like a reflash...Im a novice, but up for the challenge.knowing all the info is all on here.
